Programme description

Summer School “International Finance” is designed for graduate and last year undergraduate students, who plan to develop their academic and professional carrier in the field of finance. It is also aimed to persons working in finance business who wish to be up to date with recent developments of global financial markets. Summer school programme consist of intensive modules of lectures and seminars held by selected team of highly qualified academics and experienced professionals from leading European financial institutions.

Welcome to the website of the International Colloquium on Tourism and Leisure (ICTL). We are proud to announce our second conference in Chiang Mai, Thailand from 5-8 May 2008.

The overall aim of the conference is to provide a lively forum for academics and professionals to meet and exchange interesting new research and ideas in an informal, interdisciplinary setting.

We are delighted to announce that Professor Erik Cohen has agreed to be our Keynote Speaker for this event. Many of you will be admirers of Professor Cohen's classic works on tourism and social change, and this is a great opportunity for us to hear him speak on the topic of "Explorations in Thai Tourism".

We are now accepting abstracts for papers in any area related to tourism and leisure, but we particularly encourage critical and interdisciplinary papers in the areas of eco-tourism, space tourism, women in tourism, theories of tourism, sex tourism, exploitation, phenomenological approaches, tourism and the environment, health tourism, tourism and risk, developments in the travel industries, ethnographies of tourist attractions, tourism and globalization, sports studies, tourism and the life-course, ethnographies of leisure, and papers that address the cross-over between tourism and leisure theory and research.

All submissions will be refereed, and accepted papers will be included in the official conference proceedings, which will have an assigned ISBN number. Selected papers will be also published in an edited book.

Georgian National Investment Agency is pleased to announce an opening for the position of non-paid Intern for 3 months period with further employment potential.

Georgian National Investment Agency (GNIA) is the only public sector institution that is responsible for export promotion and facilitation of foreign direct investment in the country. The main objective of the export promotion of GNIA is to encourage trade and export development capacities of Georgian companies. For this purpose, the Intern will work under the overall guidance and supervision of and report to the Director of the Georgian National Investment Agency or Deputies. The intern will perform the following duties:

** Identify, review and analyze any previous market studies of the exports from Georgia in the course of the past three (-five) years. This shall result in preparing analytic research paper on past export promotion activities of the country including its SWOT analyses.
** Network with exporters from Georgia and assist in the selection of potential export markets.
** Assist in organizing different events for export promotion.
** Evaluate the strengths/weaknesses of the selected export enterprises.
** Collaborate and liaise closely with international organizations and other institutions that are working on export promotion issues.

Master in Sweden for East Europe
General critiera


Countries: The Master in Sweden for East Europe Program is open for applicants from Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Tajikistan and Ukraine.

Study levels: The programme is open for master level students.

Fields of study: Applicants from all the countries listed above can apply for master’s level studies in democracy (including gender issues), economics, environmental studies and energy.

In addition to the above there are other fields of study open to candidates from some countries according to the following:

Applicants from Albania, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan and Ukraine are eligible for courses in the fields of health science and social issues.

Applicants from Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Moldova, Tajikistan and Ukraine are eligible for courses in the field of agricultural sciences.

Applicants from Albania, Armenia, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, Macedonia and Ukraine are eligible for courses in the field of forestry.

Application deadline: The deadline for 2008 has passed. Information about next year's application deadline will be available by the end of the year.

Scholarship benefits: The scholarship amounts to SEK 8 000 per month.


Program desciption



Objective
The purpose of the scholarship program is to encourage the development of specialist expertise in targeted countries by giving at least 100 students the possibility to study at master level in Sweden during the period 2006-2009.


Target group
Master's level students from specified countries will be given an opportunity to attend qualified programs. A complete list of all eligible master's Level programs in Sweden can be found on “How to apply” below approximately from December 1. However, remember that not all fields are open for students applying to the Master in Sweden for East Europe Programme.


Who is eligible?
The scholarships are intended for students belonging to any of the above mentioned target groups for master’s studies in Sweden.

You are not eligible for this scholarship if any of the following is true:
• You have already lived in Sweden for two years or more when the scholarship period is due to begin.
• You have a Swedish permanent residence permit.
• You have a Swedish work permit and you are not an EU citizen.

There is no age limit for scholarship holders. You need, however, to be fluent in English and you must apply for full-time studies.

Students previously awarded a scholarship from the SI for study at a Swedish university will not be given priority.


Selection criteria
The primary evaluation of the application takes into account the applicant´s academic background and personal motivation. In the final selection of candidates, academic fields, countries and gender will also be considered.



Scholarship benefits and limitations


The scholarship amounts to SEK 8 000 per month.


Travel grants
Scholarship holders also receive a travel support in connection with the scholarship. The travel grant is a lump sum, given only once, regardless of the cost of travel.

Scholarship holders from Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia and Ukraine receive a travel grant amounting to SEK 5,000. Scholarship holders from Armenia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan receive a travel grant of SEK 7,500.


Insurance
Scholarship holders are insured by the Swedish State Group Insurance against illness and accident during the scholarship period. For citizens of EU member states and other Convention countries the insurance applies with certain limitations.


Scholarship limitations
The scholarship is designed to cover the living costs for the scholarship holder. There are no grants for family members. No bench fee is provided.

The granted scholarship period cannot be shortened, altered or extended. If you wish to apply for subsequent funding you must apply within a new call for applications.

Instructions on how to apply for a Swedish Institute (SI) scholarship if you intend to study at a master's program in Sweden.

Please make sure you have read the information about the scholarship programs regarding countries and subjects to make sure that you are eligible to apply.

Note: You are not eligible to apply for a scholarship for a master's program you are currently studying at. Only students admitted to a master's program in the first selection round in the central application process could be considered for a scholarship.

The Advanced Level

Among the second level programmes or advanced programmes you will find an extensive selection of Master's Degree Programmes offered at Swedish universities and university colleges as from the academic year 2008/2009.


Master's Degree Programmes
Universities in Sweden offer a large number of Master's Degree Programmes taught in English. These programmes are open to both Swedish and foreign students with a Bachelor's degree (a Swedish Kandidatexamen) or equivalent academic qualifications.

Before you apply for a Master's Degree Programme you should make sure that you have the required academic qualifications and language skills.

Check the programme description(s) carefully for detailed information on requirements and documentation. Please note that the requirements stipulated for each programme may differ from those mentioned here. This information can be found on the web of each programme. If you have questions regarding the the requirements, please contact the university directly. See list for websites in English in the menu to the right.



Application Procedure for Master's Programmes



How to apply for a master's programme:
Check the programme description(s) carefully for detailed information.
Fill in the application form on-line. Please note that the postal address and e-mail address given will be used for all future communication. It is therefore very important that all correspondence information is correct.
Please check the information you have given carefully. Submit your application by clicking the "Send application" button.
Print out the cover sheet as instructed on the web page. Only part of the information you have given will be stated on the cover sheet. The cover sheet must be signed by you and sent by post to the address mentioned below.
Sign your cover sheet, attach all required documentation and send it by post to the address stated on the cover sheet. Applications missing the signature of the applicant will invariably be rejected.
Make sure that your cover sheet including supporting documentation will reach the address mentioned below, before February 15. Applications sent by fax or e-mail as well as online applications without supporting documentation, will not be considered.

Documentation
Your application must be supported by the following documentation, sorted in the same order as this list. Put all documents in the same envelope. One set of documents is sufficient.
1. Cover sheet.

2. Certificates and diplomas from previous education at an internationally recognised university.

3. Transcripts of records (including course list). Sort them in reversed chronological order, i e put the last received document on top.

4. A copy of your passport or some other document of identification.

5. Proof that you meet the specific requirements of the programme(s) chosen (for example a short essay or a letter of intent is required in some cases, check programme description).

6. Proof of English skills.

Please avoid staplers, paper clips, and documents with text on two sides.

You must send in a complete application package, even if you have applied before.

All documents, copies and scanned documents supporting the application must be stamped and signed by the issuing institution, or a notary public.

Please note that applications not supported by officially certified documents will not be processed.

The documents should be in the original language, and in officially certified translations into Swedish, English, French or German, if the documents are issued in any other language than the Scandinavian languages.

English test results from TOEFL (code 9520) should be sent directly from the test centre and reach us before February 15, 2008.

Please note that we check the authenticity of your documents with the issuing institution. Applications with unauthentic documents will invariably be rejected.

There are special requirements regarding documentation from Cameroon, Canada, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sudan and USA.

In case the specific entrance requirements stated by the university and/or the department include a thesis or an essay, those are to be sent to the university directly. Check the programme description(s) carefully for detailed information.

Entrance Requirements
Please make sure that you meet the entrance requirements before submitting your application.
Requirements
A Bachelor's degree (equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen/ 180 HE credits) from an internationally recognised university. The university has to be listed in the latest edition of the International Handbook of Universities.
Proof of skills in English. This is normally attested by means of an internationally recognised test, e. g. TOEFL, IELTS or the equivalent. Please check the universities' websites for more information regarding language requirements.

Specific requirements
In addition to these requirements there are specific entrance requirements stated by each university and/or the department in question. See link to Higher Education Institutions to the right.


English Language Test Exemptions
Some students may be exempt from submitting formal test evidence. These are:
Students who have a Bachelor's degree from a university where English is the only language of instruction, according to the latest edition of International Handbook of Universities.
Students who have a Bachelor's degree (a Swedish Kandidatexamen or equivalent academic qualifications) with English as the major subject.
Students who have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science or Technology from India or Pakistan.
Students who have 30 HE credits from a Nordic country and the language of instruction of the course/programme/university is English.



How is my scholarship application processed?

Master's programs participating in the SI master scholarship process provides the Swedish Institute with a shortlist of applicants who has applied for a scholarship. The Swedish Institute makes the final selection on the basis of the specific criteria for the each scholarship program.

Decisions are finalized during May/June 2008 and communicated to all shortlisted applicants with a copy to the master's program coordinator at the Swedish University. Please note that all decisions are sent by e-mail only.
